Smith River Fishing

California’s last wild river, one of the top salmon and steelhead destinations. The rivers hold both of California’s state records, steelhead at 27lbs and king salmon at 86lbs. The Smith runs through Jedediah Park among the giant redwoods. Having the ability to fish the Smith and Chetco rivers allows our customers the best chance to catch that fish of their dreams.

The first big rains open the river above the mouth of Rowdy Creek. Big salmon are caught on Mag lip 5.0 plugs and back-bouncing Roe. When water levels are high, we are in our Ocean boat. Once water levels come down, we return to the drift boat.

The peak season first rain in October-November and steelhead late December- April. January- March is one of our busiest times on the coastal rivers. Book your dates early.
